I am sooooooo glad I decided to check out the BBB in FL. I received a call from Universal Marketing (Robert) who told me his financial company needed timeshares for people who were interested and they got my name from Global Timeshares listing(a waste of money as many have said). He said he knew not many Americans were buying because of the economy but that the family who had offered $19,000 for my timeshare and had put down a deposit of $6800 were from Canada or Europe. He said they were preapproved for the amount and then transferred me to a James Anderson who handled the money part. It would only cost me $1400 for title search, etc. and that would be returned once the sale took place. If the sale didn't happen they would be out the $6800 deposit and I would get my $1400 back from that. I told him I needed my son-in-law to talk to him - he agreed, although he said it was against policy to speak to someone other than the owner - he would make an exception. My son-in-law has tried to call and gets a voice mail with no name that is full and no messages can be left. I called and left this info on the 1-877-355-6698 number and now, when he called, he was able to leave a message. Very strange. I also received a followup call from Robert, however, when I tried to call the number on my phone it rang to a fax machine. The old saying - 'if it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.' It's too bad that our free enterprise system allows vultures like this prey on so many people who are trying to sell timeshares. Has anyone found a way to sell a timeshare????? I wish it was possible.
