I take care of the affairs of an elderly friend and her caregiver. The caregiver advised me the dryer was making a funny noise. I needed a repair service and went to the yellow pages. I contacted SBAR after seeing their impressive ad with all the right words - guaranteed, honest, friendly, reliable, community minded, special discounts, etc. Besides, Smith Bros. even sounded like an honest all-American company! I should have checked TrustLink before scheduling an appointment, because I see lots of stories just like mine. After he took the front off the dryer and made the diagnosis, the caregiver put him in touched with me. Initially, I was told the problem was lint build up and it needed new drum rollers. I was advised it would be $249. When I told him I would go buy a new one for that price, he said he it was a good unit and he could clean it and it would work for $199. I again said no, as I would not pay $200 to clean lint from the unit. I advised him I would pay the service charge and go elsewhere. This is when it really started. The price continued to drop and I was given every reason imaginable why I should have them repair it. It became obvious he wasn't going to leave without more than the service charge. Contrary to my better judgment, I agreed to $99 to clean it and put the front back on the dryer. The caregiver advised me he used our vacuum to "clean" the lint, then left. Clearly, everything about this experience made me feel I was dealing with a dishonest, deceitful company. Think twice before calling this company. It is obvious they make up prices, inflate prices and say what they need to get the most they can.
