Unfortunately I too fell for this scam. Same story as other reviews I have read on this company. My contacts were Patti McKormick (she tole me she was the VP), Steven Pearles (who told me to lie, and provide false information to my bank saying I was renting rooms in my house to increase my income), and Rosa Gonzalez who was the last person I spoke to on December 31st, 2009. I signed my contract with HLRC on September 29th, 2009 which turned out to be 2 days before CA enacted a law preventing these types of companies from collecting fees for getting people loan modifications with their banks.
I live in NY. The cost to fly to CA and confront this company in the courts would cost me more than the $2500 I lost. Something has to be done but what? I filed complaints with the BBB of CA and the CA States Attorney Office. What else can I do from 3000 miles away?
I lost money I could not afford to lose. Certainly the state of CA can act on our behalf. As mentioned in other reviews, call their number (866-362-9469) today (2/8) and you no longer get their "closed for the holidays" message. There website has changed too. Guess the picked up and left for another state. Please Help!!!!
