Review 2/22/2010

I went to Goldsmiths in January 2010 with a friend who needed ski rentals.
The rental supply is filled with shoddy overused equipment. While this may not a problem for skis, it is for ski boots. My friend rented boots that did not have functioning buckles and the entire cuff was blown out. Her leg had about 5-6 inches of play. We had to go back to get a pair of "demo" (upgrades from their normal rentals) boots to get something that would be safe and usable. I've had experience with many ski shops and this is not normal.
I also had experience with their service shop. They "punched” out a pair of ski boots for me, grossly overheating the boot and disfiguring it. When I confronted the manager about it, she told me it was normal. It was not normal, I had seen boots punched and had my own punched at multiple shops. I brought the boots to a reputable shop in Squaw and they agreed, they also punched out the untouched boot and did not disfigure it.
I filed a complaint with them and they completely ignored me. This is a disreputable shop, and people should be fairly warned.
