Wow, so I just got a call from CVS this morning out of the blue wanting to know if I still wanted to sell my timeshare because they had a buyer on the line. I told him the basics of my unit, and he asked how much I wanted to sell for, which I told him 5K. He called me back about an hour later saying the buyers were offering 7K!? Why would they offer 7 if I only asked for 5? So, then I told him to tell me the way it works and he told me exactly what the rest of you said...$1388 for a deposit of "good faith", and that the sellers had to pay a 20% non refundable, but mine was refundable as soon as they closed. He fed me the "It normally takes 120 days to close, but since I have a buyer, it'll only take 45 days. I told him I couldn't come up with the money, but that I wanted to research the company first and talk to my co-owner. He was pretty friendly, and did send me a link and a "voided" contract which does look pretty fantastic with all the refunds and guarantees written in. I have in the past given in to these types of people and the first thing you should know is you NEVER pay up front for real estate. I will NOT be calling them back, and everyone should do research on these types of companies before diving in. They lure you in with the promise of a buyer, which means you have limited time to respond, and I guarantee you they will jack your money with some excuse that 'the buyer backed out' or some other lame excuse.
