I read a lot of the reviews before I rented from these folks last Friday. My experience was completely positive. Maybe it's because this was the first time I was driving an RV much less renting one. That means I'd read the fine print, watched the videos, and downloaded their rental guide to both my laptop and iPad. Therefore, I had a good feeling what I'd be in for.
When I made a reservation using their 800 number, that rep told me to call the Oakland location to confirm when I'd be able to pick the RV up. The girl I spoke to said it would be 4pm the next day. Yikes! That's late, but I'd made my reservation the day before. However, then she said to call in the morning because they might be able to get me in earlier. Sure enough I called and the girl said "can you come in now?" I couldn't right then but I was still able to pick up the RV at 12:30pm. Awesome!
I rented a compact RV. It was a newer RV, so it had an aux hookup even though the manual said their RVs didn't. The guy who set me up in the RV said it was a newer one and the manual is a bit out of date. That was good because I use my Android's GPS and usually listen to Pandora radio. If I can plug it in to the aux input it makes my trip pretty seamless. I'm not sure if all of their RVs have the same set up but there was a set of plates, bowls and plastic cups. There was also cooking utensils. I have a feeling a lot of stuff was left over. Someone had left all sorts of things like plastic wrap, cleaning solution, paper towels and bathroom tissue. Since I was only renting for 3 nights, I took what I needed. When I got back, I left the supplies that I didn't use.
The guy who walked through the checklist with me was detailed and helpful. The girl behind the counter was also informative and let me know when there were add-ons that I didn't need to waste money on. That's nice.
When I got back today, I'd gotten a late start from my campsite. So the plan I had to drop my things off at home and drive the RV in didn't happen. Instead, I showed up with an RV still full of my stuff...ooops. The girl who checked me in was nice about it. She let me leave my things in the RV. I came back roughly an hour later with a ZipCar, loaded it up, and was finally on my way. I also made the reservation with one card but wanted it charged to another. That was no problem and it was charged to the card I'd specified when I picked up the RV.
From start to finish, it was an easy transaction. I'd definitely rent from them again.
