They contacted me, and asked if I had any outstanding accounts owed to our company. I decided to assign 1 account to them for collections (about $21k of debt.) They seemed familiar with account, and said they have recently won a case against the same debtor, for cash registers that were unpaid for. After the initial 30 or 90 days, the debt was still uncollected, and they suggest we pursue litigation, and all the paperwork looks great! They asked for $1,000 to proceed litigation. It has been 1 year now, and I haven't been able to contact Baker,Kline&Wade ever again. Phone lines go to a full voice mailbox for 2 weeks now. God only knows if they collected the debt or not. That would be more money in their pocket. My company still hasn't seen 1 dime of it. I'm reporting this to the authorities. We are a small business struggling to compensate for that legitimate collection in the first place. In the meantime, I went with a local, commercial collector, for this account, since it's not going anywhere with Baker Klein and Wade.

6-25-09 update:
Since BKW's site no longer works, I managed to find the names of their employees in Google's cached pages section. I've gotten what seems like standard form letter replies from the dept of justice, so far, nothing noteworthy to report. I'm done with typing letters to the bbb, and other agencies, and getting nowhere, but If anyone takes the lead in tracking, starting an investigation, or lawsuit, I will be more than happy to help. email me from here.
